Regulators have found hidden viral gene in commercial GMO crops and Monsanto’s hypocrisy on how GMOs are so unique that are patentable but so substantially equivalent that don’t need to be labeled
A recent report by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) shows that most commercial GMOs have hidden viral gene that might be harmful to human’s health. The report shows that almost 63% of commercial GMO traits currently approved for commercial use carry a strange viral gene called “Gene VI” that might not be safe for human’s consumption.
According to independentsciencenews.org, the report by Podevin and du Jardin discovered that out of 86 different transgenic events (unique insertions of foreign DNA) currently approved for use in the United States, 54 contain portions of Gene VI within them. Among the transgenic events that are mostly affected are some of the most widely grown GMOs including Roundup Ready soybeans (40-3-2), MON810 maize and Monsanto’s NK603 genetically modified corn that based on Seralini study caused organ damage and tumors in mammals.
The viral genes found in commercial GMO crops could cause a serious threat to human’s health since many viral genes function to disable their host in order to allow pathogen invasion. Such viral gene can lead to unexpected and undesirable results in agriculture and the release of new viruses and pathogens can affect the health of plants, humans and other species. In conclusion, in many ways, inserting viral genes into the plants accidently can pose serious and unpredictable threat and harm to the environment and human’s health.
Monsanto’s hypocrisy on how GMOs are so unique that are patentable but so substantially equivalent that don’t need to be labeled:
All these years biotech industry including Monsanto have been telling consumers and governmental agencies that GMOs are perfectly safe for human’s consumption. In fact, the biotech has been saying that there are no differences between GMO and native crops.
According to this report, most GMO traits carry a strange viral gene and that makes them susceptible to viral infections and new pathogens. Also, humans who eat GMO plants that carry the viral gene become more susceptible to diseases.
However, GMO plants with viral genes have been approved by governmental regulatory agencies for many years now. Most people do not know that governmental regulatory agencies such as FDA do not perform any tests on their own and they completely rely on the results that are presented to them by biotech industry. As a result, the average American family is used as guinea pigs of biotech laboratory. Also, hidden GMOs are regulated and approved safe for human consumption in US and Canada while 30 countries have banned GMOs.
